Book Review: Found, Free & Flea

My weekend lie in read for the last few weeks has been Found, Free & Flea. I have been reading it lazily in bed over a morning cup of tea with a snoozing cat at my side. The book is the real-life story of how Tereasa Surratt and her husband bought a derelict childhood summer camp and turned it into a rural hideaway full of vintage treasures, and I adore it.

It's a book about creating collections from vintage finds and as you might expect from the title Tereasa tells us how to go about doing that on peanuts (well, not actual peanuts but next to nothing).

There are also a number of tips on fun and interesting ways to display your collections (like the lovely vintage iron display above) and interesting ways to repurpose things which might not be obvious (like the cheese box cutlery storage below).

Tereasa has skills in making even the most unimpressive solo items look beautiful as part of a grouping. For example, I love this photo of her rolling pin collection.

If you're an avid collector of vintage homewares you'll most likely have many of the tips under your belt already, but this book is full of good tips for beginner vintage collectors and is full of inspiration for collectors of all levels.
